Government forces announce dismantling of FARC’s 37th Front

On 7 June 2012, President Juan Manuel Santos announced that the FARC’s 37th Front had been dismantled after eight guerrillas were killed and three others captured in a military operation. Among those dead was 37th Front commander Luis Enrique Benítez Cañola, alias Silvio or El Francés.
